Why This Race Matters
This is one of the most important elections in the country — and whether you live in Texas or not, it will help determine the balance of power in the federal government for the next decade.
Texas may not be blue yet, but Harris County has been. It’s the heartbeat of Texas politics. In every major election year, more votes are cast here than anywhere else in the state.
But things have changed. The biggest, bluest county in Texas is no longer reliably blue — it’s become a swing county.
That might not seem like a big problem at first glance. But by 2030, Texas is projected to gain between two to four additional congressional seats and Electoral College votes. That shift makes Harris County’s political direction a national issue. If we lose ground here, we risk losing power in Washington for a generation.
Since 2020, Harris County has been trending in the wrong direction:
In 2022, our Democratic county judge won re-election by just 1.6%.
In 2023, Republicans swept Houston’s citywide races, winning all three At-Large City Council seats.
In 2024, countywide Democratic candidates scraped by with 1–2% margins.
Kamala Harris’s margin in Harris County was less than half of Joe Biden’s in 2020.
And for the first time ever, a Democratic candidate in TX-18 — one of the most diverse and historically Democratic congressional districts in Texas — received less than 70% of the vote.
That same year, over one million eligible voters in Harris County stayed home.
The stakes are real. And the time to act is now.
I want to turn TX-18 into one of the highest voter turnout districts in the entire country.
That means I won’t be one of those politicians who only shows up during election season — or only reaches out when it’s time to send a fundraising text. I’m committed to building something deeper and more lasting.
My plan is to create a year-round, community-rooted organizing hub right here in TX-18. A space that doesn’t just mobilize voters every two years, but invests in our people, our neighborhoods, and our future — every single day.
Because real power is built from the ground up. That’s why we’ll focus on local and down-ballot elections — the school boards, city councils, and judgeships that shape our daily lives. These races might not grab headlines, but they deliver the results that matter most in our communities.
This is how we change the direction of Texas — not just for the next election, but for the next generation.
But first, I need to win this race. And right now, we don’t even know when Election Day is. Governor Greg Abbott is playing politics with the representation of TX-18, dragging his feet on setting a special election date. It could be May, June, August — or even November.
That’s why we have to treat every single day like the election is right around the corner.

Democrats are ready to fight back.
